Use the 'Book Now' button above to request a booking time. Try to book at least 24 hours in advance to ensure that your requests are able to be fulfilled.

About your booking

1. We have a 10 minute grace period. Please call us if you are running later than 5 minutes after your reservation time.

2. Sittings are for 1.5 hours maximum, so please ensure you are on time for your bookings and are respectful of bookings following yours by finishing on time.

3. Bookings of 6+ are required to partake in one of our banquet menus.

No BYO

We serve an amazing range of wines, Chinese & craft beer, cider, ginger beer, spirits & non-alcoholic drinks. We are not a BYO venue.

Dietary

We cater to most dietary requirements. We have a large number of vegetarian and vegan items on the menu as well as dedicated banquet options for these diets. We have many low gluten options but due to the small kitchen and shared cooking equipment we can provide many truly coeliac-friendly dishes.

About the building

100 Latrobe Terrace started life as a tea-house and snack bar for the "trammies" at the tram depot across the street at what is now Paddington Central. The large brick building is about 100 years old and housed living quarters for the purveyors of the snack bar out the back.

Some of the structural walls were removed when it was transformed into a furniture shop, and we've pulled as much of the internal cosmetics out to bring it back to as raw a form as we could get.

What’s with the name?

Well, way back when tea was the beverage of choice in Queensland, 'King Tea', was top of the pops. With the backing of the East India Trading Company, it was common to see King Tea boldly painted on building-fronts throughout the city of Brisbane, including ours. We liked the original signage and the history of the building, so we decided to put it back on the building again.

Getting here

Paddington isn't great for parking, but street parking can be found close by and there is free parking for up to 3 hours at the Paddington Central complex across the road.
